There is strong belief that prisoners are incapacitated, in other words, if one is locked up he or she cannot commit crimes but that is far-fetched.

Recent events show that Botswana prisoners are masterminds of most crimes which happen outside prison walls.

Most robberies and cases of obtaining by false pretence just to mention but a few are said to be planned behind the bars. The police are of the view that there is a syndicate of prisoners and members of the public who are behind most crimes currently keeping the police busy.
