President Mogae visits Vienna

Vienna: President, Festus Mogae, arrived in Vienna on Monday afternoon. He was the keynote speaker at today's opening session of the 7th United Nations Forum on "Reinventing Government". the President is accompanied by the Minister of Justice, Defence and Security, Phandu Skelemani, who will also be addressing the forum, and Botswana's Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva, Boometswe Mogothu, as well as other senior officials.

The delegation also includes First lady, Barbara Mogae. President Mogae was invited to the forum by the Secretary General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-Moon, in order to share Botswana's experience as a developing country that enjoys an international reputation for its good governance practices.
At the opening ceremony Mogae will share the stage with the host President, Heinz Fischer. Moon will not attend the ceremony.
He will be represented by Deputy Secretary General, Asha-Rose Migero, who is expected to also meet with President Mogae.
While in Vienna President Mogae is expected to visit and meet with the senior staff of the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The international organisations have their headquarters in Vienna.  The theme of the 7th United Nations Forum is "Building Trust in Government". In this respect trust will be examined in terms of its relationship
with public service capacities. The forum will further explore strategies and innovations that have generated greater trust in in governing institutions around the world.
President Mogae is expected to return to Botswana on Friday.
