Political parties to conference

FRANCISTOWN: All the five political parties in Botswana, namely the Botswana National Front (BNF), the Botswana Congress Party (BCP), the Botswana Democratic Party, (BDP) MELS and the Botswana Peoples' Party (BPP) will be holding crucial meetings in the month of July to deliberate on the welfare of their respective parties.

According to a press release issued by the publicity secretary of the BNF, Moeti Mohwasa, his party will hold its annual national delegates' conference from Sunday 17th July to Tuesday 19th July in Tsabong. "The conference will be preceded by the Women's League Congress to be held on 16th July where a new leadership will be elected," said Mohwasa.

The BNF press statement reveals that the official opening of the conference will be conducted by Duma Boko, the BNF president, on Sunday 17th July at 9 am. As has become the norm, "The labour movement and fraternal parties are expected to deliver solidarity messages during the official opening ceremony." Representatives from the African National Congress, the South African Communist Party and the Confederation of South African Trade Unions (COSATU), will grace the occasion.
