Police run out of bullets in robbery chase

It was a dramatic scene of police misfiring at Metro wholesalers on Saturday afternoon, as onlookers watched a police chase of robbery suspects that looked like a comedy scene cut from the local police comedy, Itshireletse.

Onlookers at the Metro wholesalers could not believe their eyes when the CID officer tasked with "taking the robbers out" horribly misfired at the slow moving navy blue Toyota Corona several times, allowing all the robbers to exit the shop and jump into the getaway car using another entrance, before driving off unscathed.

Two bystanders selling sweets at the entrance of the Metro Wholesalers showed The Monitor team small holes created by the CID officer's bullets as they missed the target. "After four bad shots he ran out of bullets; when he was busy re-loading his gun, we saw more thieves, coming of the wholesale to get into their car and drive away; there were about four or five of them, it was funny; I think the CID guy was trying to go for the tires, but he missed with all the shots".
