Police Investigate Zim Cigarettes

FRANCISTOWN: Consignments of smuggled cigarettes suspected to be from Zimbabwe are keeping the police on heightened border patrol.

These cigarettes are sold cheap in the streets and it is suspected that some end up in South Africa. Last year on November 18, two 27-year-old suspects were arrested with 218 boxes of smuggled cigarettes.

According to Tshesebe station commander, Superintendent Mojaboswa Mathita, during the search they found the barrel of a gun linking them to an armed robbery at Gerald Estate in the second city.
