Police helicopters coming in December

The police air wing is planned to start operations by January next year after the purchase of two helicopters, a senior official has said.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Dipheko Motube told Mmegi that the helicopters will be in the country by December this year. He said the third helicopter will arrive in August next year.

Over six officers are training in the United States in aircraft engineering, while another six are training as pilots in neighbouring South Africa. Officers who will serve as air traffic controllers are training locally at the Department of Civil Aviation.
