Two notorious armed robbers, Mogomotsi Thupane and Ronnie Sanana, were arrested along with three South Africans earlier today after attempting to rob a police-escort Security Systems cash-in-transit (CIT) vehicle.
Confirming the arrest, Director of Crime Intelligence, Nunu Lesetedi said that the quintet was heavily armed with an AK47 and three pistols. He stated that the police intercepted the suspects who were about to rob the CIT vehicle while driving a Toyota Wish bearing fake plate numbers.
“We have since discovered that the Toyota Wish they were driving was stolen and police have been looking for it. The two notorious Batswana have several armed robbery cases pending before court,” he said.
