Police did not shoot 'the man in question' - Tsimako

Normally, press briefings by Commissioner of Police are held at the conference room on the first floor of Botswana Police Service Headquarters that is situated behind the National Assembly on Government Enclave in Gaborone.

However, that was not the case in the afternoon of Friday July 3, 2011. The conference room was occupied by a good number of men, some clad in prison warders' uniform. We strayed into that room Friday afternoon, but the five of so seconds we were there were long enough to sense that the men in the room were dealing with a heavy matter. Though the Commissioner of Police, Thebeyame Tsimako, is usually late to his press briefings, it is always by less than 10 minutes. But this time, he arrived 16 minutes late, perhaps because the briefing was in the senior officers mess. He made his apologies.
