Police boss reacts to Saleshando's claims

Acting Police Commissioner, Kenny Kapinga has assured Gaborone Central parliamentary candidate Dumelang Saleshando that only 35 and not 1,000 police officers of the Special Support Group (SSG) will not vote in the constituency.

He said the SSG has 700 officers and not 1,000 as mentioned by the MP. Kapinga's clarification follows Saleshando's remarks in a Sunday weekly that 1,000 police officers will not vote on Friday. The acting commissioner said where possible, they have posted officers to areas where they have registered to vote.

He explained that 1,000 police officers countrywide will not vote because it has not been possible to post all of them to the polling areas where they are registered. The Botswana police force has 11,000 officers.
