Police boss faces P1m suit

LOBATSE: The station commander of Molepolole Police Station, Andrew Bosilong is battling a P1 million defamation claim filed by local businessman, Thuso Moshapa.

The plaintiff alleges that Bosilong defamed him in May 2008 when he uttered the words, "You Moshapa, I saw your vehicle on two Thursdays unloading stolen meat at your butchery around four in the morning".  At the time the alleged utterances were made, the court heard that Moshapa had gone to Molepolole Police Station to register his displeasure with the way some police officers were investigating his threat-to-kill complaints.

Testifying before the High Court yesterday, Bosilong denied ever uttering the words. He confirmed meeting the plaintiff who had come to lodge a complaint about the laxity of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) officer handling his complaint.
