Police blame drug use for sharp rise in rape cases

Addressing the Institute of Health Sciences (IHS) community yesterday, Inspector Osefile Mmitseng of the Diamond and Narcotic Squad, said that Francistown has been hard hit by the use of dagga and other related drugs .

He said the police have failed to combat such crime, as the laws are too linient. "I think it is time research was conducted into the rate at which dagga is used in this city and maybe the government would thereafter tighten laws," said Mmitseng.
