SELEBI-PHIKWE: SPEDU and Estate Construction and Wellfield Engineering have signed contracts for the Platjan bridge construction.

The P105 million project was initially earmarked for commencement in 2014 under the Department of Roads, but was taken over by SPEDU in April last year for facilitation.  The groundbreaking is expected to take place at the end of this month, but it is not yet known when construction will commence as the river is still flowing.

The project that is expected to take 18 months  to complete is anticipated to facilitate the construction of a fully fledges commercial border post at Platjan as well as upgrading of the gravel road leading to the border.  SPEDU chief executive officer, Mokubung Mokubung said they are currently in talks with Botswana Unified Revenue Services who are interested in expanding the Platjan border post.
