Pilots Warned Against 'Drunken- Flying'

Speaking at the graduation ceremony of 15 pilots at Thebephatshwa Airbase recently, the Deputy Commander of the Botswana Defence Force, Major General Gobuamang Thokwane - who is also Commander of BDF Airwing - expressed concern at the growing number of road accidents that claim lives every year.

He said that if soldiers engaged in drunken driving, they might as well engage in "drunken flying".

Thokwane also had something to say on HIV/Aids: "As young officers, your contribution in fighting the HIV virus is very crucial.  Botswana has lost, and continues to lose, highly-trained personnel through this pandemic."
