Phumaphi quits top post for mom's sake

Vice-president of the World Bank and former Health Minister, Joy Phumaphi has denied suggestions that she intends to return to active politics.

This comes after the highflying Phumaphi announced at a dinner held in Gaborone, that she is quitting her World Bank job in Geneva. She has decided to cut her contract, which was scheduled to end in 2011, to this October.

It is this decision that has sparked speculation in political circles with some pundits intimating that perhaps the former minister has been promised a special nomination to Parliament and consequently a Cabinet post, given President Ian Khama's declared stance on women empowerment.
