PHK threatens to blacklist offending contractors

SELEBI-PHIKWE: Minister of Minerals Energy and Water Resources Ponatshego Kedikilwe has cautioned contractors who violate labour laws to desist from doing so or risk being blacklisted from tendering for projects.

Speaking during Dikgatlhong dam and pipeline project stakeholders' workshop on Monday, Kedikilwe said hiring of workers by contractors must be transparent and in line with Botswana's labour laws.

"We might consider blacklisting contractors who do not regard the conduct of industrial relations and stipulated labour laws. Such contractors should be ultimately disqualified from tendering for projects," he said.
