Phikwe's wheels of diversification finally turn

SELEBI-PHIKWE: The kaleidoscopic pieces of the diversification drive puzzle in Selebi-Phikwe are slowly taking shape, giving high hopes to the nearly 50,000 residents of this mining town that the urban centre "will not die".

Like an 1860 coal powered goods train slowly gaining momentum, the wheels of diversification in Selebi-Phikwe are finally turning and so are the hopes of this mining town, for so long seen as destined for the dustbins of history.

If radical economic changes sweeping through the extreme eastern parts of the country are anything to go by, then the dark cloud hovering over Selebi Phikwe's future might be slowly drifting away.
