Phikwe's textile industry faces collapse?

SELEBI-PHIKWE: The economic recession in the United States of America (US) coupled with rising production costs pose a serious threat to the local textile industry.

In a deliberate move to sustain the economic life of Selebi-Phikwe, the government embarked on an ambitious programme to promote the mining town as an industrial hub through a setting up of textile firms.

The government introduced a financial scheme, the Financial Assistance Policy (FAP) under which foreign investors in the textile sector received grants as start-up capital.
