A 22-year-old man residing in Jwaneng has lost his life after he was hit by a car that was involved in an accident while walking by the roadside on Saturday morning.

The accident occurred after a Toyota Land Cruiser driving behind a Ford Ranger hit the vehicle from behind along Jwana Road. Confirming the accident, Jwaneng police station commander, Superintendent Thuso Basuti said the accident occurred at around 5:30am.

"After being hit from behind, the Ford Ranger vehicle drove out of the road and ended up hitting the deceased who was walking by the roadside. He was rushed to Jwaneng Mine Hospital where he was certified dead on arrival by the doctors. Both drivers escaped the accident uninjured and investigations into the matter are ongoing," he said. Basuti said they have detained the Toyota Land Cruiser driver for further investigation.
