THAMAGA: Accusations of rigging flew thick and fast at the BNF Youth League (BNFYL) elections in Thamaga over the weekend.

At one stage, a fight nearly broke out at the event as members of rival camps argued over the rigging allegations. Claims of irregularities surfaced when delegates started voting for the new leadership of the youth league.

Arafat Khan who retained his position as secretary-general says his camp is unhappy about the elections. He accused the party central committee member, Naledi Akambakamba, who was an observer of supporting their rivals. He said there was too much interference from her. Khan was on the lobby list of Tona Selala, which lost the majority of leadership contests at the congress. The winning camp through former University of Botswana student leader, Richard Khumoekae also made claims of rigging and pointed accusing fingers at the Selala camp.
