Peace as Mfa's rival is launched at Nata

FRANCISTOWN: It appears the faction aligned to outgoing Nata/Gweta Member of Parliament (MP) Olifant Mfa chickened out of a confrontation that could have ensued at the launch of Rayner Makosha, the new candidate for the constituency.

Makosha, who has ousted the long standing Mfa as Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) parliamentary candidate for the constituency, was launched together with his council candidates by Serowe South MP Pelonomi Venson-Moitoi in Nata on Saturday.

The council candidates are to represent the ruling party in Nata West and Nata East, Mosetse, Dukwi, Zoroga, Gweta West and  Gweta East and Tshwaane in the Sua Pan.On the eve of the launch, Mmegi received a telephone report to the effect that a faction aligned to Mfa were preparing to either disrupt the launch or cause some kind of mayhem that will put a damper on the launch.
