The rape case against former government journalist, Norman Patlakwe could not proceed on Friday because the presiding magistrate, Olivia Zvide was said to be on sick leave.

The former Btv head of news is accused of raping a 16-year-old girl at Lamila Lodge in Mogoditshane in June last year after giving her a lift from Mmakgodi. Currently, Patlakwe is the communications manager at the Public Enterprises Evaluation and Privatisation Agency (PEEPA).

On Friday, the defence and prosecution in the rape case were supposed to address the court on any issues that may have arisen in their written submissions. The prosecution had already served Patlakwe's lawyer Basimane Bogopa with its written submission. The defence requested to be given two weeks to respond to the submission.
