Air Botswana Privatisation is still going on Minister of Transport and Communication Frank Ramsden has announced.

He said that after two attempts to privatise the airline, and the one to engage a management contractor failed, the government decided to fully refurbish the airline.  He said that so far, two ATR 72,500 aircrafts have been bought, and that there are possibilities of acquiring other wide-bodied aircraft to augment the fleet and enhance the airlines performance in the aviation transport. He was responding to a question from Specially Elected Member of Parliament (MP), Vincent Seretse, who asked if the privatisation of AB was still on, and if not, Parliament be updated on the alternative measures that have been taken, if any.

Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture, Shaw Kgathi said that the developing of profiles and marketing packages of successful athletes is ongoing.  He said that the Botswana National Olympic Committee has engaged the services of a four-year Marketing Consultancy to assist in the development of modalities for packaging the profiles for purposes of promotion and marketing successful athletes with a focus on the 2012 Olympic games.  He said this when answering Shoshong MP Dikgang Makgalemele, who asked if the Minister of Youth, Sport and Culture would consider developing profiles and marketing packages of successful athletes and help in marketing their talent to the international world in line with the country's overall policy of promoting exports, given that talent in sport is a key resource towards the economic empowerment for athletes.
