Paraplegic stabbed four times

A wheelchair-bound disabled man was allegedly stabbed four times with a knife at Seven Eleven shopping complex in Broadhurst, Gaborone, last week.

Eye-witness accounts say his unknown assailant fled the scene, leaving the man lying on the ground bleeding. A friend of the victim is said to have rushed him to hospital."I heard people screaming outside the bar and when I went out, I found the man had been stabbed four times and was lying in a pool of blood," an eyewitness, who requested anonymity, told Mmegi.She further related that after the victim was taken to hospital, there was talk that the injured man owed the suspect money.

District officer operations at Number 3 Police District, Superintendent Bonosi Molapesi confirmed the case and said the search is on for the suspect. "The victim is recovering at Princess Marina Hospital. He told us that he can identify the man who stabbed him," he said.He confirmed that the hospitalised man is disabled and uses a wheelchair. He said that they had not yet established the cause of the attack. If found guilty, the suspect is liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding five years, with or without corporal punishment.
