The police are searching for three armed robbers who recently blew up an ABSA Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) in Palapye, stealing money amounting to P309,680 before fleeing the crime scene.

Reached for comment, No. 2 District Officer Commanding, senior superintendent Paul Oketsang said they do not have any leads as yet but investigators are on the ground to locate and arrest the suspects.

He added that by their preliminary findings, two of the suspects at large are South African nationals. Oketsang said the trio on the run and the quintet in police custody had on the night of May 26 at Palapye Old Mall pounced on security guards who were on duty, bound them, blasted the ATM, and stole the money. The suspects in custody, Jane Mahlangu and Malebogo Mahlangu of Tlokweng, Kobamelo Moremi of Ratholo, Otsilegape Mmele of Maunatlala, and Kagiso Itani Utlwang of Francistown, will appear for mention at the Palapye Magistrate's Court today (Monday).
