PAC summons PS over Jamali building

The chairman of the Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee (PAC), Nehemiah Modubule, has summoned two Permanent Secretaries to explain how a building owned by controversial business mogul, Seyed Jamali was leased by the government last year against the wishes of the Public Procurement and Assets Disposal Board (PPADB).

It is reported that twice PPADB rejected the lease of the building in the new Gaborone Central Business District (CBD) to the Ministry of Defence, Justice and Security. 

Before the PAC yesterday, the Ministry of Lands and Housing Permanent Secretary, Thato Raphaka, admitted the government erred in signing the lease with Jamali."The procurement process was not followed," he explained.Raphaka was told by Modubule to appear again with the PS for Defence, Justice and Security, Segakweng Tsiane to help resolve the matter.
