Proceedings of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) were delayed for two hours yesterday because members could not form a quorum, which is half of their total number - 10. Present were chairman Nehemiah Modubule, Kagiso Molatlhegi, Moiseraele Goya and Kentse Rammidi.

Absent were Samson Guma, who was reported to be hosting ministers at his constituency, as well as Fidelis Molao and Olebile Gaborone, who are also part of the special select committee of Parliament that is doing an audit of the Botswana Development Corporation's (BDC) Palapye Fengyue glass project.

They two MPs were engaged at BDC. Another member, Isaac Mabiletsa, is in Algeria on an election observer mission for the Pan African Parliament. "We take this opportunity to apologise for keeping you waiting, but we will not be able to proceed because our committee cannot form a quorum as our members have been phoning, saying they are returning from their constituencies, whilst others are engaged elsewhere," said a visibly disappointed chairman.
