P250,000 lawsuit against Government for police assault

FRANCISTOWN: The government is facing a P250,000 lawsuit from a man alleging brutal assault by the Ramokgwebana Special Support Group (SSG) officers at Moroka village in 2007.

Moroka resident, Alphius Tafa, alleges that two constables Joshua Bonyongo and T Botshome assaulted him after he tried to talk to his friend whom they had just interrogated. Tafa says that the two officers grabbed him by his genitals and kicked and punched him until members of the public came to his rescue.

Tafa is suing the officers for assault and contumelia. He is demanding P150,000 for assault and P100,000 for contumelia.
