Over 600 embrace backyard gardening in F/town

FRANCISTOWN: Six hundred residents are expected to take part in backyard gardening, as the City of Francistown (COF) strives to eradicate poverty through this government initiated project. A number of potential beneficiaries from different constituencies have already been screened for backyard gardening in the city.

In the last ordinary full council meeting of the year on Monday, Francistown mayor, Shadreck Nyeku said COF has been given a slot of 600 beneficiaries for backyard gardening and 150 for alternative packages such as leather works, Kiosks, bakeries, landscaping and tent hiring.

"This means that 200 beneficiaries from each constituency will be engaged in backyard gardening and 50 will be engaged in alternative packages," he said.  Nyeku added that so far 240 beneficiaries have been screened for backyard gardening and 157 for alternative packages.
