Over 3,700 road accidents in Phikwe

SELEBI-PHIKWE: Selebi-Phikwe Police district has recorded 3,765 road accidents in the past five years prompting calls for preventive measures to be adopted to ensure safety on the country's roads.

Speaking at the official opening of the Motor Vehicle Accident Fund (MVA) office in Selebi-Phikwe over the weekend, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning, Solomon Sekwakwa advised that the fund shift its focus towards road crash prevention, in order to counter the adverse impact of increased road usage.

He observed that statistics have indicated that most of the road crashes that occur along the A1 highway, cut on the fringes of Selebi-Phikwe.
