Over 30 law firms barred

The Law Society of Botswana (LSB) has barred 39 law firms from practising for failure to regularise their practices.

According to a press release from the LSB yesterday, the listed law firms do not hold current practising certificates, and are therefore not entitled to practise. They are furthermore not members of the society, the communique says.

Among the prominent firms in the list are Dow and Associates, Isaac Seloko Attorneys and Busang Sebonego and Company. The release states that in terms of Section 29 (1) of the Legal Practitioners Act, no legal practitioner may practise law without a practising certificate.
