Otse man charged with rape after alleged attack on sisters

A 23-year-old man from Otse village has been arrested and charged with rape after he allegedly attacked two sisters before sexually assaulting one of them in Mahalapye early Friday morning.

The alleged incident occurred at around 1am when a 20-year-old woman and her 34-year-old sister were walking to a nearby shebeen to buy alcohol. According to police, the two met the suspect on the way, who pounced on them in an attack.

Confirming the incident, Mahalapye-Central Acting Police Station Commander, Assistant Superintendent Malakia Gabana, said the suspect first assaulted the older sister, striking her with a stone before grabbing the younger woman and dragging her to an unoccupied unfinished house.
