Oremeng sheds a tear for Mhlauli

Yesterday at the Village Magistrate Court, after Chief Magistrate, Lot Moroka convicted former Permanent Secretary, Elividge Mhlauli on the two counts of abuse of office and giving false information to a commissioner of oaths, there were shrieks of anguish amongst relatives in contrast to a sombre mood amongst many.

Even Kadimo Oremeng, who is largely seen as a snitch by the Mhlauli team, did not celebrate. He looked downcast. Some women, perhaps overcome by grief, told Oremeng that he should celebrate since he had successfully ensured Mhlauli landed in deep trouble. Venting their spleen in a manner reminiscent of garrulous barnyard exchanges, the women told Oremeng to his face that he was a snitch. When the tacky commotion died down, someone asked Oremeng if he was happy now that Mhlauli was found guilty.

"How can I celebrate someone else's demise? This is painful; and it happens to someone that I know," said Oremeng. The question was off the cuff. It ambushed Oremeng, but he did not seem too bothered by the people's court that had gathered outside the court.
