Order reigns at previously unruly Mochudi hotspots

Some residents of Mochudi are infamous for unruly behaviour during the festive season, especially during New Year's Eve.

Around midnight every year, most of them, particularly night crawlers assemble at Notwane, Masakeng Bar and Liquor Restaurant, and Seliday bar, to usher in the new year in inebriated fun-fare. They do everything, whether illegal, to express their excitement and jubilation.

Some dance in the middle of the roads, while some climb atop of cars and even damage them in their excitable rants and dances. The owners often don't report it because it is difficult to single out one person from a mob. This insane merriment often goes on into the wee hours of the morning and even when the police arrive to maintain order, they are threatened and hurled with insults.  A short distance away, some spin with old model BMWs, commonly reffered to as match box or gusheshe. The spectators cheer and scream loudly, frantically waving and dancing as the drivers, seemingly urged on by this support, speed and spin faster.
