In the memorandum the parties seek to continue cooperation in bye-elections to strengthen their commitment to inter-party relationships and "working to increase the understanding of Batswana about social, economic and political problems confronting our country", says the trio.  The three parties have committed to work together and not challenge each other but the ruling Botswana Democratic Party in council or parliamentary by-elections between 2011 and the next general elections in 2014.

The BCP, BMD and BNF have also agreed that determining who will contest any bye-election shall be based on whether a party (among the trio) had won the said vacant seat in the 2009 general election or any election subsequent thereto.
