Opposition of goes to court over Banda's 'foreign parents'

LUSAKA: The opposition Patriotic Front (PF) seems determined to give President Rupiah Banda a good run for his money following its decision to petition the High Court on account that his parents were both foreigners.

If the court rules in PF's favour, it means President Banda, who is the current chairman of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) troika on security, will be disqualified from the September 20 elections.

PF general secretary Wynter Kabimba has followed up his earlier threats to stop President Banda from contesting with an application in the High Court for an injunction to restrain the ruling party from fielding him.
