Online radio stations start webcasts- owners

MAUN: An online tourism radio station has gone on air in Maun for international audiences. Known as Seletso Web Radio, the station webcasts from the tourists' popular watering hole, Bon Arrivee restaurant, in front of the Maun airport.

According to one of the owners of the station, Setso Molosi, the radio is 100 percent citizen owned striving to give tourists and cultural enthusiasts around the world tourism updates, news, cultural information and events from Botswana.

He said their target is to promote Botswana internationally as a destination of choice.  "The station will benefit the people of Maun and Botswana's tourism destinations in many ways. It will develop skills in online radio webcasting and in fields such as music and other performing arts," Molosi said.According to Molosi the radio station is an answer to a problem long expressed by the tourism industry that they cannot advertise locally because the local media outlets have no presence internationally where their clients mainly come from.
