Central police are investigating a crash that occurred nearby the University of Botswana (UB) roundabout that killed a 36-year-old woman who was a passenger in a car that drove across the circle on Thursday early morning.
According to the police, the car drove across the roundabout and ended up slamming against the UB boundary wall.
Divisional Traffic Officer for South Central, assistant commissioner, Reginald Matlhaba said the accident occurred at around 3:45am. The victims were from Broadhurst drinking the night away for entertainment.
“The driver and other passengers survived the accident with serious injuries. Alcohol-related accidents remain a concern. How can a driver run through the circle where he was supposed to reduce the speed when approaching? This shows that his attention might have been diverted or had lost focus while driving,” he said.
Matlhaba pleaded with motorists to exercise caution on the roads to avoid unnecessary accidents that continue to claim lives.
