Old Naledi Station Commander, King Tshebo has confirmed that one of three employees of Water Utilities Corporation (WUC) who went missing at Gaborone Dam, was found in the water yesterday.

Tshebo was unwilling to reveal exactly where they found the body in the dam and the depth of the water. He said the body was intactly-dressed, but could not say whether the deceased had a lifejacket on or not. The deceased's next of kin identified the body but his name is still withheld as police feel "other relatives might not be aware as of yet". The body has since been sent to Princess Marina Hospital for a post mortem examination.  Tshebo said extreme weather conditions hampered the search for the three WUC employees who went missing last Monday while on duty.  He said the water was so cold that divers could not perform at optimum levels at times.  "It was extremely cold to the extent that at times we were not as effective as we could have wanted to be," he said.

The width of the dam posed another challenge. However, Tshebo said they had up-to-date and efficient equipment for the job, though the search delayed. WUC spokesperson, Matida Mmipi admitted that the dam is infested with crocodiles as attested to by the search team. She referred all questions to the police, as "investigations are ongoing".The search for two other WUC employees and the boat continues. Head of investigations, Tshebo, said they do not intend to commit more resources - equipment and expertise - as what they have is adequate. However, he would not reveal the kind of technology they are using and the number of people in the team he leads.
