On-duty guard 'commits suicide'

FRANCISTOWN: A 22-year-old Western Security guard has committed suicide whilst on duty. Central Police Station commander, Superintendent Mogomotsi Kesupile has confirmed that colleagues found the man hanging at the MVA building which is still under construction.

The new building is next to Galo Mall. He said the incident took place on Friday night whilst the deceased person was on duty. The Central station commander stated that the guard was working for Western Security company. At the time of committing the offence, the security guard was on duty with two of his colleagues.

"The trio reported for their night shift at around 6pm. At around 7pm they started doing their rounds. Unfortunately, when they got to the fourth floor they found their colleague hanging on the premises," he added. It is alleged that the man left early for the patrol. Kesupile stated that the deceased did not leave any suicide note and investigations into the matter are ongoing.
