Ombudsman Lepodise passes on

The Ombudsman, Ofentse Moatlhodi Lepodise, has passed on. He died yesterday at the Bokamoso Private Hospital.

A lawyer by profession, Lepodise was appointed the second Ombudsman for the Republic of Botswana on August 1, 2006.  Having joined the Office after its inception, he is regarded as one of the pioneers of the Ombudsman institution in Botswana.  At the time of his untimely death, Lepodise was serving his second four-year term in office.  He was born on September 21, 1959.

"Lepodise had a resounding passion and drive to see the Office achieve its continued success and contribution to the maintenance of Administrative Justice, an ethic-driven Public Administration and therefore Good Governance," says a statement from his office.
