President Ian Khama has said the opposition in Botswana is weak and poses no threat to the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP).

Addressing a rally in Mahalapye West at the launch of Vice-President and area MP Mompati Merafhe, Khama said the opposition has been fragmented by power struggles.

"There are two parties in Botswana. There is BDP and BNF (Botswana National Front).
