Obituary: Lettie Gaelesiwe 1972-2007

Silethukuthula fondly known as 'Lettie' Gaelesiwe was the daughter of Meffort Dube and Eva Banda Ngulube. She was born on November 11, 972 in Ezigodini, Zimbabwe. Lettie grew up among brothers and sisters who she loved greatly.

In her formative years, she began her primary school education at Mazwi, Nkanyedzi, and Mhali Primary Schools. She obtained her secondary school certificate at Founders High School in Zimbabwe. She pursued her tertiary education at Harare Polytechnic where she got a qualification in journalism. She worked part-time for Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) and was engaged in TV and drama initiatives. In 1995, Lettie married Ernest Gaelesiwe and they were blessed with three beautiful children; Refilwe, Azile and Andile.

In Botswana she launched her career in the media industry and made her mark as an outstanding journalist both in the print media and in broadcasting. She worked for Mmegi newspaper where she made a positive impact in the newsroom allowing many to access her for the many talents that she possessed.
