Complaints about slow project implementation made by Minister of Finance and Development Planning, Baledzi Gaolathe in his 2008/2009 budget last week, put the Vice-President, Ian Khama in the spotlight.

Gaolathe told Parliament that most of the projects which were supposed to be completed last financial year 2007/2008, are still ongoing.

The finance minister fears that as this is the last budget for National Development Plan 9 (NDP9), some projects will be carried to the next development plan period, NDP10.
This statement opened a can of warms from the civil society, opposition political parties and the public who all want to know where Khama was because he is tasked with supervision of the implementation of these projects.
