Nurses in plea for Govt 'kiss of life'

The president of the Nurses Association of Botswana (NAB), Keabitsa Ramantele says nurses face many daunting challenges which government should appreciate by providing them with adequate incentives.

Speaking at the association's 41st annual general meeting (AGM) in Gaborone yesterday, Ramantele pointed out that they as nurses of Botswana have long been faced with crippling challenges that require immediate attention from their employer. 

"These challenges are inadequate remuneration for nurses, hostile working environment, acute and chronic shortage of manpower, high migration rates, lack of clear career paths, family issues, lack of appreciation of the professionals by the employers and consumers of the services, to mention but a few," she added.
