Nurses demand allowances

SEROWE: The Botswana Manual Workers Union has recommended the pyramid method in the public service salary increments against the current 'across the board' practice.

Lesetse Gontswe submitted to the presidential commission last Thursday in Serowe that low income earners should be given a higher percentage that should reduce as it goes up the ranks, arguing that this would help close the disparity between low and high income earners.

Unlike his counterparts, Gontswe said the 'A' scale should not be eliminated but beefed up to match the current cost of living and inflation rate.
