Nurse To Appear For Alleged ARVs Theft

A 31-year-old Deborah Retief Memorial Hospital male nurse will appear again in a Mochudi Magistrate's court on February 4 after he was charged with stealing Anti-retroviral (ARV) drugs worth P129,521.

According to assistant superintendent Nkape Kealotswe, the nurse broke into the hospital on the night of January 4, stealing seven boxes containing eight bottles of drugs. In each bottle there were 30 tablets of Trivada. He also stole three boxes that contained 120 bottles - each with 30 tablets of Efavirenz.

Kealotswe said that the accused has already appeared before Mochudi Magistrate Court and they are waiting for the Directorate of Public Prosecutions to approve a go-ahead on the case. He added that the ARVs are kept in police custody as exhibits.
