Nshakazhokwe's name worry Comes to an end

FRANCISTOWN: Nshakazhogwe residents have wholeheartedly welcomed the demarcation report, which has renamed their ward as Nshakazhogwe as opposed to Sebina North as it was called before.

Over the years residents of Nshakazhogwe have been agitating against being referred to as Sebina North ward arguing that there was no way their area could be named after another village. They said they felt belittled and even worried that the name of their village would eventually disappear altogether.

But two weeks ago, when the demarcation report from the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) was officially released in the Government Gazette, the name Sebina North was no more and in its place was Nshakazhogwe, to the elation and relief of the residents.  It was in complete contrast to the dejection and simmering anger that the residents had displayed and expressed during a visit by this publication in June.
