NRH employees tell PS of corrupt promotions

FRANCISTOWN: Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital (NRH) employees have told the Permanent Secretary (PS) in the Health Ministry, Dr Kolaatamo Malefho that promotions at the hospital are marred by nepotism and corruption.

They said that friendships and connections are more important than merit in promotions at the institution. "We do not know exactly on what basis promotions are done.

Long serving employees with potential are left out whilst only the incompetent ones are promoted because of their closeness to the management," a security guard known as Ramaotwana told the PS at a senior management meeting hosted by the Institute of Health Sciences on Monday. Ramaotwana said the system used to promote employees in NRH diminishes the morale of many staff.
