NPP tardy on primaries

FRANCISTOWN: Aspirant council and parliamentary candidates at the Botswana Peoples Party (BPP) are not in a hurry to declare their ambitions to stand for the 2009 general election despite the August 31 deadline.

The BPP secretary general, Edward Mpoloka said the aspirants are still applying to stand for primary elections. "Quite a number of people are filling the forms," said Mpoloka before adding that nobody has submitted yet.

The secretary general revealed that he has not yet completed his form. He has a dilemma. "I have some options to stand for either a parliamentary seat in one of the three Francistown constituencies or a council seat. I haven't made up my mind. I am still weighing my options," he reasoned.
