Now DPP appeals Seretse's acquittal

The state is set to appeal to the High Court against Regional Magistrate Barnabas Nyamadzabo's decision to acquit cabinet minister Ramadeluka Seretse of corruption charges.

The Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) filed their notice of appeal with the High Court in Lobatse yesterday.The case has been allocated to former director of DPP, Leatile Dambe, who is yet to set a date for the hearing.

The move by the Attorney General, could throw a monkey wrench in the works after President Ian Khama re-appointed Seretse, who is also his first cousin, as the Minister of Defence, Justice and Security. Seretse relinquished his post last August after he was charged with corruption.
